For decades now, OG Kush has ruled the west coast of the United States, and has become one of the most recognizable names on the cannabis scene. Various phenotypes, such as Tahoe OG, SFV OG and Ghost OG, have achieved elite status and been used by breeders to create an array of new hybrids.
The reputation of one such descendant, True OG, has been somewhat overshadowed by its relatives. But it's still a force to be reckoned with, having placed second in the High Times Cannabis Cup Best Medical Indica category in 2010.
The creation of Lemon Garlic OG started with the careful selection of a True OG phenotype. It took a series of backcrossings across several generations to arrive at a stable mother – one that showcased a pungent, citrusy aroma and delivered a gentle, head-clearing high complemented by a long-lasting body stone.
These feminized Lemon Garlic OG seeds were produced from highly stabilized mother plants, grown using 100% organic farming methods and handpicked after passing a rigorous inspection process. Growing Lemon Garlic OG Feminized
The fact that these are feminized seeds means that at least 9 out of 10 seedlings will be female. This offers extra peace of mind, but it doesn't mean that due diligence is no longer needed. At the very least, each plant requires a close inspection once pre-flowers appear to rule out the possibility of a male having slipped through the net.
Other than that, growing Lemon Garlic OG is straightforward. It's a little bigger than most Indica-dominant cultivars, and requires a little more space than usual.
After germinating the seeds and transplanting the seedlings, the rapid vegetative growth allows for a quicker transition to the flowering phase. The plant's long, thin leaves will require some trimming and pruning to increase light penetration and air circulation in the lower branches. Doing so will further bolster its already excellent natural resistance against pests and mold.
After flipping the switch, it takes at least nine weeks of flowering for the buds to develop fully. By this time, the long colas will be filled with thick layers of pungent-smelling trichomes. Installing a carbon filter to neutralize the scent is highly recommended. Once harvested, expect yields anywhere from 1.31 – 1.96 ounces per square foot.
Outdoors, Lemon Garlic OG prefers a temperate climate similar to the Mediterranean. It's a large plant capable of reaching 10 to 16 feet tall, but doesn't require as many nutrients as you might first think. Measure the feeds carefully to prevent nutrient burn. During harvest, which usually falls in the second to third week of October, it produces a frankly insane yield between 35 and 105 ounces per plant.
