For generations, Maple Leaf has provided relief and relaxation, although legend has it that it was almost lost forever during the Cold War. Luckily, though, it survived – and thanks to these feminized seeds from Homegrown Cannabis Co. it's easier and more convenient to grow than ever before.
To understand its origins, we need to step back in time to 1979. Back then, the town of Mazar-I-Sharif was known for its hashish and cannabis culture, but because of its location close to the border of the USSR, it was also a place likely to be invaded by the Soviets. Certain cannabis plants were smuggled out of Mazar-I-Sharif, and found their way into the hands of collectors who made it their mission to preserve the genetic line.
A descendant of one of these plants is came to be called Maple Leaf. In contrast to the typical elongated leaf shape common to Indica plants, it boasts a unique appearance that looks more like its namesake.
Growing Maple Leaf from Feminized Seeds
Maple Leaf can be grown outdoors, but it thrives best when planted inside. Doing so allows for optimal control over crucial environmental factors, as well as the use of hydroponics which shortens the vegetative and flowering periods while maintaining a decent yield. Some people, though, prefer using soil as the growing medium since its said to increase the buds' terpene profile.
Maple Leaf does not grow too tall, but topping it early will encourage lateral growth. As the plant gets bushier, you'll likely need to trim or prune the leaves to allow for better air circulation and light penetration. SOG is also highly recommended, and typically yields about 0.66 ounces per square foot.
Out in the open, Maple Leaf can grow to about 4.5 feet tall. While it thrives in a warm climate, it can also tolerate a colder environment, although its strong scent may make privacy an issue. When cared for properly, each plant can produce up to 7 ounces of buds by the second to third week of October.
Maple Leaf is a sturdy and resilient plant that even beginners should be able to cultivate successfully. Using feminized seeds from Homegrown Cannabis Co. means the likelihood of male plants popping up is greatly reduced, which makes the process even easier.
Fragrance and Flavor
An irresistible sweet and citrusy orange scent blends with the pungent, musky odor of earth. Once lit up, it explodes with a sweet and zesty burst and leaves a buttery aftertaste on exhale.
Effects
Maple Leaf delivers a sedating psychedelic high that – like many Indicas – takes a short while to fully manifest. Once it hits, there's pretty much nothing you can do but to bask in the deep, trippy relaxation that ensues.
The key to using Maple Leaf is to find the right amount that allows you to feel its effects while still remaining functional. The ride begins with a euphoric cerebral high that's pronounced but not intense. Gradually, as it stabilizes, the Indica traits begin to work their magic on the body.
As the calming sensation spreads from the head to the extremities, a state of complete tranquility will engulf you, leaving you comfortable and completely at ease. Often accompanied by a tingling sensation, it may even have aphrodisiac qualities.
During the comedown, most people are likely to feel a bit sleepy, but this depends on individual tolerance. If too much is taken, it could knock you for six in no time at all. Like most other strains, Maple Leaf can cause cottonmouth and dry eyes. It may also lead to dizziness or headaches.
Feminized Maple Leaf Seeds
Maple Leaf can certainly hold its own against the best Indica plants in the world, and it's already made quite a name for itself. But the adoration is not based on effects alone. It also has terrific bag appeal, and it's a real sight to behold in the garden.
Thanks to these feminized seeds from Homegrown Cannabis Co., you can now grow this incredible plant in the comfort of your own home, leading to a bountiful harvest of buds that'll turn your friends green with envy.
