Holistic treatment promotes an individual’s well-being by considering the various parts of the whole person. It includes their body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Dr. Uma Dhanabalan is an advocate for this form of healing.

Dr. Uma Dhanabalan’s approach to holistic treatment also includes alternate forms of medicine, including cannabis. As you continue reading, you’ll discover how this remarkable woman has made a significant contribution to the marijuana world

Forging her own path

After three attempts at studying medicine, Dr. Uma Dhanabalan succeeded in her fourth effort. Cannabis as an alternative medical treatment was never part of her plan as a physician, though.

Dr. Uma Dhanabalan developed a different view of marijuana following her mother’s passing from a lung disease in 2012. She realized that the choice to support medical cannabis was entirely up to her.

Dr. Dhanabalan began researching and learning more about this federally illegal drug. The more she learned, the more enthusiastic she became about it.

Dr. Uma Dhanabalan began forging her own path as a physician by writing her first recommendation to the state of Washington supporting medical marijuana. She continued to pursue efforts in reforming the government’s policy on cannabis.

Learning the true value of cannabis

In her pursuit to understand cannabis and its effects on our bodies, Dr. Uma Dhanabalan learned its true value. She encountered information on the bodies’ endocannabinoid system (ECS), which was never present in her medical or subsequent studies.

Dr. Uma Dhanabalan discovered how the ECS has receptors throughout the body that interact with cannabis after absorption. The interaction of cannabinoids such as THC and CBD, found in marijuana, has led to many people experiencing relief from various ailments.

Learning the actual benefits of cannabis has helped Dr. Uma Dhanabalan to realize that the stigma attached to this medicinal herb is more political. Marijuana poses no serious threat, and there have been no real fatalities related to its use.

She believes that more cannabis research is needed, especially its impact on the body’s ECS. Another one of her strong beliefs is that people require proper education relating to marijuana use and its benefits.

As a result, Dr. Uma Dhanabalan has made it her mission to educate others and create an awareness of cannabis as a medicine. Once armed with this knowledge, users might avoid misuse, and patients no longer need to experience the restriction on marijuana that still prevails in certain states.
