Vaping is the new way to smoke. You'll always find old-school users that won't upgrade from their hand-rolled joints. Newer generations use vaping because it's more efficient and healthier. Are you wondering how to make THC vape juice at home? We've got your answers.

We will go over exactly what THC vaping juice is, how to use it, and the powerful effects. You'll learn about the benefits of making your own DIY THC vape oil and how to do it. Let's get started.

What is THC vape juice?

THC vaping juice, also known as e-juice, e-liquid, or vape oil, is the liquid that turns your bud to vapor when you heat it. It became popular after e-cigarettes hit the market. You can also purchase vape oil with nicotine or CBD.

Smokers enjoy vaping because of its benefits. You can produce a very potent substance, take one or two hits, and you're high. Using THC vaping juice is healthier than traditional smoking because it doesn't combust, producing tar, carcinogens, or carbon monoxide.

Users also love how portable and sleek vape pens are. There’s no need to carry your herb, grinder, papers, or bowl, and lighter around with you just to smoke. All you need is your vape pen, which is small and slender.

You can be much more discreet with your cannabis consumption because it doesn't carry the same potent aroma. Just take a hit of the DIY THC vape oil whenever you want and exhale the flavored vapor.

Most THC vaping juices are made from a base of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. Propylene glycol is an odorless and colorless organic substance that's not viscous.

Vegetable glycerin is a natural fluid from plant oils that has a sweet taste. It's viscous, which creates a thick, smooth cloud of vapor. The vape pen heats the THC vaping juice from 300–450°F, and you suck in the vapor.

DIY THC vape juice takes on the flavor of marijuana. You can add natural or artificial food flavorings to give it a better taste.

How to use THC vaping juice?

You use your THC vaping juice in a vape pen. You need to fill a cartridge with the oil and insert it back into your pen. Sucking in activates the battery, which heats the juice and the vapor enters your mouth and into your lungs. Hold for a few seconds and exhale.

Be sure to clean the cartridge before refilling it with new THC vaping juice. The vegetable glycerin tends to be a little difficult to clean. Soak the cartilage in warm soapy water and use a cotton swab to get the remaining oil out.

If you don't want to vape, you can also use DIY THC vape oil as an edible. Put the juice in a bottle with a dropper. Squirt out a few drops under your tongue and swallow. The THC will absorb through tiny blood vessels and enter your bloodstream.

Add DIY THC vape oil into baked goods, beverages, or candies. Take a bite of a weed brownie and, within 30 to 90 minutes, become high.

THC vaping juice effects

Vape juice with THC is highly potent. Cannabis bud contains from 12 to 35% THC, depending on the strain. Vaping juice contains 50 to 70% THC and can reach as high as 90%.

Even if you're an experienced smoker, we recommend taking it slow with THC vaping juice pens. Take one hit at a time and see how you feel.

In minutes it takes you to a place of euphoria. High-quality DIY THC vape oil brings you to another level of high. It completely clears your mind of stress, and you're in pure bliss. If you're with a group of friends you’ll all be happy and laughing together.

Overall, THC vaping juice gives you the same effects as the dry herb but is intensified.

Why should you make your own THC vape juice

THC vaping juice can be difficult to find in stores, especially if you live in a state where recreational weed is still illegal. If you do find some, there can be a lot of additives reducing the potency.

When you make your own DIY THC vape juice, you know exactly what is going into it. Even better, if you grow your own cannabis seeds, you know the quality of your homegrown weed.

Making THC vaping juice is also a fun activity to do at home. If you're part of a smoke club, each person can create their own and see whose is the best.

DIY THC vape juice gives you the power to create it as potent as you want, as store-bought ones often have limits. Choose whether you want natural or artificial flavors, and the strain to make your oil from. You have all of the control.

How to make THC vape juice at home

After reading all of the benefits of THC vape juice, you're probably wondering how to make THC vape juice? How can a dried piece of the plant turn into a potent oil that can be vaporized? It's actually a lot simpler than it seems.

Let's go over a few methods on how to make THC e juice at home.

How to make THC e juice with wax

One way you can make THC vaping juice is with wax. It's a fast and easy way to make vape oil. Let's look at the materials you need:

  • High-quality THC wax
  • Microwavable container
  • Liquidizer
  • Syringe

Once you have all of your materials, it's time to make THC e juice. Here's our step-by-step guide for making DIY THC vape oil with wax:

  1. Put 1 gram of THC wax into the microwavable container.
  2. Pour a few drops of liquidizer on top of the wax and stir.
  3. Put the container into the microwave and heat for 10 seconds maximum.
  4. The mixture should be a liquid now. Use the syringe to put into the cartridges.
  5. You're ready to vape.

How to make THC vape juice with bud

Making THC vape juice from dry herb takes a little longer, but you can achieve a high-quality product. You have more control, as you're not using store-bought wax. For best results, use homegrown weed cultivated from cannabis seeds from Homegrown Cannabis Co.

Before making THC vape juice, you have to activate the weed, also known as decarboxylation. Most people know you can't just eat weed flower and get high because the THC is still THCA or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid.

To change THCA into THC, which makes us high, it needs to be heated. Break your nugs into small pieces and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 230–248°F. Place the baking sheet with the weed in there for an hour. The idea is to cook it low and slow. Too much heat and the THC will burn out.

Once you have your decarboxylated cannabis ready, you can start making THC vape juice. Let's look at the various methods you can use from here.

Long term THC vape oil

The longer way to make THC e juice can take up to 3 months. The benefit of waiting this long is that you produce a rich, potent, flavorful THC vape oil. The dry herb has plenty of time to release all THC, and it's still a straightforward process.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Decarboxylated marijuana bud
  • Food-grade vegetable glycerin
  • Food-grade propylene glycol
  • Glass jar
  • Stirring wand
  • Wire strainer
  • Cheesecloth

Once you have all of your materials ready, you can start the process. Follow our step-by-step guide for making long-term THC vaping juice:

  1. Break apart your decarboxylated marijuana into small pieces. Don't use a grinder as it will be harder to remove the ground-up weed.
  2. Put the cannabis into the glass jar.
  3. Mix the vegetable glycerin and the propylene glycol into a 50/50 combination.
  4. Pour the liquid into the jar with the weed until all of the herb is covered. Don't add too much liquid, as this will dilute the THC vaping juice.
  5. Stir until the buds are fully saturated.
  6. Seal the jar, label, and store in a cool, dark, and dry place.
  7. In a month, take the jar out and add a tablespoon of the vegetable glycerin and the propylene glycol mixture. Stir thoroughly and steal the jar.
  8. Put it back into the same spot for another month and repeat the process at least three times. The longer you wait, the more potent and rich the DIY THC vape oil will be.
  9. When you're satisfied, strain the vape juice with the wire strainer.
  10. Take the collected cannabis and put it into the cheesecloth, and squeeze out all of the juices.
  11. You're ready to vape.

Short term THC vape oil

Short-term DIY THC vape oil is similar but doesn't take months to make. You're going to speed up the process with some heat. Let's take a look at the material required:

  • Decarboxylated cannabis bud
  • Food-grade vegetable glycerin
  • Food-grade propylene glycol
  • Pot with simmering water
  • Pyrex or heat-safe glass jar
  • Two thermometers
  • Wire strainer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Stirring wand

Here are the directions to follow to make short-term DIY THC vape oil:

  1. Break up the cannabis buds into smaller pieces and put them into the glass jar.
  2. Combine the vegetable glycerin and the propylene glycol into a 50/50 mixture.
  3. Pour the liquid into the jar with the weed until it’s all covered.
  4. Heat the water until it's simmering. You don't want a full boil, as this can be too hot for the THC vaping juice.
  5. Put the thermometer into the pot, and it should be a consistent 220℉.
  6. Place the glass jar into the simmering water and place the other thermometer into the jar. It should be consistently 180℉. If you raise the heat too much, the THC will break down, leaving you with oil that won't make you high.
  7. Let the jar sit in the water for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the jar and let it cool.
  9. Strain the THC vaping oil.
  10. Put the leftover cannabis into the cheesecloth and squeeze out all of the juice.
  11. Your THC vaping juice is ready to enjoy.

Rosin extraction THC vape oil

The rosin extraction method of making DIY THC vape oil is a little different than the other two. It still uses dry herb, but you use other materials and processes. Interested to know more? Let's take a look at how to extract THC with rosin.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Decarboxylated cannabis bud
  • Hair straightener
  • Parchment paper
  • Small glass jar
  • Liquidizer
  • Syringe
  • Stirring wand

Now let's get into how you make THC e juice with rosin extraction:

  1. Grab a dense, high-quality bud to start with.
  2. Heat the hair straighten from 250–280℉.
  3. Put the nug on a piece of parchment paper and fold it to make a bud sandwich.
  4. Put the nug-filled parchment paper onto the hair straightener and press down for just a few seconds. You don't want to burn the bud, just heat it.
  5. If performed correctly, when you open the parchment paper, there should be a film of rosin on it that you can peel away.
  6. Repeat these steps with at least three dense buds to get enough rosin to make a potent THC vaping oil.
  7. Once you have 0.4–0.6 grams of rosin, put it into a glass jar.
  8. Add a few drops of liquidizer and mix. Slightly heat the mixture until the liquid starts to bubble. Don't overheat because you'll lose the THC.
  9. Use the syringe to extract the DIY THC vape oil and put it into your cartridge.
  10. You're ready to vape.
