SFV OG Strain Info

SFV OG strain description

More commonly known in the cannabis world as SFV OG, the San Fernando Valley OG was created and bred in the area it’s named after.

Coming from pure OG Kush parents, the SFV OG strain is a sativa-dominant hybrid that’s favored by people looking for medical marijuana

It’s known for relieving pain, stress, and depression. It’s also used to reduce muscle spasms and increase appetite.

What makes it unique is that it’ll bring you pain relief, but it won’t numb you, unlike most other cannabis strains. You’ll still be able to go about your day.

The SFV strain’s the ideal solution if you want to treat a medical condition but don’t want such a high that knocks you out or makes you dizzy.

SFV OG Strain flavor and effects

The first thing you’ll notice when you come across this strain is its distinct scent. It’s very fragrant with the aroma of an earthy lemon mixed with undertones of pine

You’ll find the SFV bud strain’s scent very enticing but beware that it can be harsh on your throat and lungs when smoked. So, it would be best if you used a vaporizer instead of smoking with a pipe.

Taste-wise, you’ll experience a soap-like pine flavor that isn’t unpleasant but leaves a fascinating aftertaste. Some users mention a green banana flavor.

As we stated in the SFV OG strain info, its THC levels average between 18 and 25%. However, you should check the label as the levels can vary, depending on the cultivating methods used.

Being a sativa-dominant strain, it’ll give you an initial cerebral effect, but it’ll give way to a mellowed body buzz. You don’t have to worry, as dizziness and headaches are extremely rare with the SFV strain.

It’s the absence of mind-altering effects that make the strain a perfect choice for medical use. The SFV OG can medicate but not confine you to your couch as most cannabis varieties do.

A word of caution, though. You're advised to consume plenty of water as the buds can cause dryness in your mouth and eyes.

Similar to the SFV strain THC level, you’ll find a high amount of terpenes, including Myrcene, Linalool, and Alpha Humulene, with the former dominating the rest.

SFV OG strain grow info

The SFV OG plant is medium in height, and its flowers are small in size. But, what she lacks in appearance, she more than makes up for in potency and scent.

The SFV strain also produces flowers much faster than many other cannabis varieties. It can go from seed to flower within six to ten weeks and has the potential to offer substantial yields. When cultivating outdoors, you can expect a harvest in early October.

It’s best to cultivate it in a warm, dry climate. Do not confine the plant within a pot but, instead, allow her lots of space to grow.

When cultivating the SFV OG strain, experienced cultivators suggest ScrOG as the preferred growing method to maximize your harvest. Be aware that you need to give it lots of care. If left unchecked, it’ll aggressively take up all the vertical space.

If you’re growing indoors, hydroponics using reverse osmosis (RO) water is touted to be the best option.

SFV OG strain genetics

No strain review of the SFV OG would be complete without discussing its origins. The San Fernando Valley strain is a hybrid with OG Kush parentage, giving it the traits of a sativa-dominant cultivar.

Please don’t confuse this variety with the SFV OG Kush strain. That’s the hybrid offspring of SFV OG crossed with an Afghani, and it’s mostly indica.
