Interview With Mary Jane

Homegrown PotCast
August 19, 2020

Derek is back with another Homegrown PotCast and this week he has some very special company in the form of Mary Jane (@flower_to_flour) to discuss her experiences as a first-time grower and their mutual love and excitement for growing cannabis in their homes. Mary Jane is currently growing Blueberry Autoflower and Blueberry x Jack Herer Autoflower from Homegrown Cannabis Co. seeds which she complements for their hardiness, sturdiness, and easiness to grow.

Derek and Mary Jane both conclude that autoflowering weed strains are a great option for novice growers. Mary says that she is currently on day 16 and has transplanted her plants once already. She laments that she has enjoyed growing and watching her plants blossom so much – being rewarded for the effort she has put in.

Mary Jane then starts to detail when she had to Low Stress Train (LST) her Blueberry Autoflower, which had become a little too tall, which went well and fixed the problem. With autoflowers being the fastest growing weed strains, Derek mentions how it is important to keep an eye on their growth and size.

Mary Jane tells us that she used the paper towel germination method to kick things off before placing them into rockwool cubes and then placing them into the soil. Mary Jane is growing fully organic, listening to her talk about this is great – she offers some great tips for growing cannabis organically and this is a great example of what can be done as a novice grower.

Mary Jane finishes off by talking about what she is looking forward to in the future, as a cannabis grower. She talks about wanting to try different training methods for her autoflowers such as cropping and supercropping. Derek and Mary Jane both conclude that, while High Stress Training (HST) and Low Stress Training (LST) can be intimidating for new growers, trying different techniques and experimenting is one of the best ways to learn.
