Storing Cannabis Seeds

A problem faced by many cannabis cultivators, particularly those who buy seeds in bulk, is figuring out how to store marijuana seeds until they are ready to be grown.

Have no fear, your favorite PotCast host, Kronic is here to lend a hand.

Basically, many growers may think that, as long as the seeds are in packaging, they will last for a while and be fine once they start the germination process. This is not entirely true, cannabis seeds are living things and, like all living things, will react to light and oxygen which will cause them to develop and grow basically. Naturally, if this happens your seeds will essentially develop into unusable husks.

So, how do you extend marijuana seed shelf life? Well, you have to stop them from growing and stall their development. To do this, you must ensure that your seeds are exposed to as little light and oxygen as possible. There are a few ways to do this, but some of the best ways are actually the most simple and require you to use objects you likely have laying around the house or, failing that, receptacles you can easily pick up from a local store.

Helping Cannabis Plants Thrive

For the second portion of this week’s PotCast, Kronic details all the elements that help a cannabis plant and reach its full potential.

There are many factors to consider when growing cannabis plants, and Kronic offers a great roadmap for growers new and old to follow when starting their grows.

One of the first things to consider is the soil you are using for your plants, the soil will be the primary source of essential nutrients; micronutrients and macronutrients which are subject to change but are nonetheless essential to your plant throughout each growth stage.

Then there’s water, just as important as soil, all living things need water to survive, and watering cannabis plants correctly has a huge impact on your cannabis plant’s ability to thrive. Furthermore, water is also an important delivery method for nutrients.

Then there are lights, choosing lights that can provide your plants with the correct light spectrum is truly essential. Check out Kronic’s PotCast on Photosynthetic Active Radiation (PAR) for more information on this.

And finally, temperature and humidity must be controlled and kept at correct levels, but that’s enough from us, we’ll let Kronic explain the rest.
