Hindu Kush Feminized
STRAIN PROFILE Hindu Kush Feminized
Hindu Kush Feminized Profile by Kyle Kushman
The Hindu Kush is a mountain range that stretches from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Throughout history, it has played a significant role in the history of humanity. And, for the cannabis community, it is also the consensus cradle of Indica plants.
For thousands of years, these varieties evolved to thrive in the harsh, windswept mountainsides and cold temperature. Apart from its toughness and resiliency, its exemplary body high is the standard by which others are measured.
It is unclear how many of these varieties made its way to the western hemisphere. One, in particular, came to be called after the region. Since its introduction to the market, the Hindu Kush strain did not only grow its fan base. It also passed on its genetics to numerous hybrids that went on to become legends as well such as OG Kush.
Coming with a high amount of THC, it has the potential to deliver crippling full-bodied effects. However, used responsibly, this strain can bring users to a state of nirvana. Not to mention, it gives people a reprieve from various ailments and pains.
The Hindu Kush today no longer needs to be sourced from the remote parts of its roots. In fact, the grow room or garden at home is an ideal environment for it to thrive. And, making it possible and convenient is the availability of feminized seeds at Homegrown Cannabis.
Growing Hindu Kush from Feminized Seeds
The adaptability windswept mountainsides are evident in the growth structure of this variety. Its height typically ranges in 115-130cm. A short plant, but one that vigorously stretches laterally. And, that makes it ideal for cultivation indoors even in somewhat small tents.
The odor is not its best quality. However, that is not to suggest it is repulsive. Far from it, the plant emits a pleasant aroma most especially a couple of weeks into flowering. While it grows well-enough using soil as the medium, the best option is to combine SOG with hydroponics set up. Furthermore, during the late stage of vegetative growth and some parts of the flowering period, trimming and pruning, or lollipopping will significantly boost its yield.
Although it is resistant to molds and mildew, some stress training as well as controlling the fan leaves helps ensure a disease-free growth with better air circulation. Besides, the lower branches also need access to the light source for it to grow more bud sites. It is one step that growers should focus on as the plant typically focuses its energy on the central cola.
It takes some 7 to 8 weeks for the flowers to develop and be ready for harvest. On average, each square meter can yield some 350 to 400 grams of buds.
The Hindu Kush feminized seeds from Homegrown Cannabis also thrive in an outdoor condition. Already, it has adapted to a warm climate. And, its genetics makes it tolerant of abrupt changes in the weather such as sudden lowering of the temperature but not to the point of freezing. Harvest time occurs in the first week of October with each plant capable of producing 400 to 550 grams.
Instead of triggering the flowering period as soon as it appears to be ready, consider delaying it by a week. Doing so could help improve its yield.
Before the flowering period starts, exposing it to a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius lower during the dark cycle results in a higher concentration of anthocyanins. As a result, it triggers the appearance of purple shades. It does not have any effect on the quality of the buds with regards to fragrance and flavor, or its potency. However, it does make for an appealing appearance.
Lollipopping and even exposing it to a lower temperature causes some stress. These feminized seeds do not have a hermaphroditic tendency. In other words, it can tolerate stress better than regular seeds.
Flavor and Fragrance
Even with its fragrance alone, the Hindu Kush is widely recognizable. Cannabis connoisseurs are well aware of its distinct sharp spicy note that blends with a mix scents of aniseed, sandalwood, and the classic Afghan earthy smell.
This variety grown from feminized seeds does not deviate from the original Hindu Kush. Once it kicks into the system, it induces a gentle cerebral euphoria followed by a soothing body buzz. As it intensifies, moods change as a sense of happiness sets in leaving users feeling contented.
For sure, this strain delivers a sedating type body high that does not result in a typical couch-lock. It does make people feel lazy and opt to chill and find peace in tranquility. In most cases, too, it leaves users with a foggy mind.
The heaviness that weighs down on the body while feeling deeply relaxed soon paves the way for drowsiness. At the same time, the cannabinoids responsible for the high can also cause the munchies.
By consuming or using the Hindu Kush in the right amount, users can go either way. In other words, there is the choice of drifting off to sleep or getting up to eat some food. Of course, overindulgence assures a one-way ticket to dreamland.
The Hindu Kush, though, is not without any possible adverse effects. For one, users are going to experience varying degrees of cottonmouth and dry eyes. Some might have bouts of dizziness too. And, in extreme cases such as using too much, it might even cause an elevated level or anxiousness or mild paranoia.
The Hindu Kush has excellent characteristics that make it extraordinary in alleviating psychiatric and somatic pains.
Once the full-bodied high takes effect, its uplifting qualities wipes out tensions from the body. Not only that, but it also melts away stress. Even people suffering from depression would find a reprieve.
Packing up to 20% THC, it can induce a profound psychedelic high centered on the body. And, this same cannabinoid also induces hunger pangs. Hence, patients undergoing treatments that suppress the appetite could use it to bring back the vigor for food.
Finally, as users settle into a foggy relaxing bliss, the sleepiness it induces is beneficial to people with trouble getting quality sleep.
Feminized Hindu Kush Seeds
The feminized seeds of Hindu Kush, for sure, is not 100% the same as the original. It had to take generations of inbreeding to come up with a stabilized variant that adapts well to the warm climate. And, that made it possible to grow what is arguably the premier Indica strain in the world at the comfort of the home.
