Jilly Bean Regular
STRAIN PROFILE Jilly Bean Regular
Jilly Bean Regular Profile by Kyle Kushman
In 2007, High Times named Jilly Bean as one of its Top 10 Strains of the Year. It is the culmination of the time and effort spent in its development that started because of scents and flashbulb lighting in the head.
After sampling Orange Velvet, a cut of Orange Skunk, the idea of combining its fruity scent with the tropical flavors of Space Queen formed in the heads of the breeders. The result of this crossing is a hybrid that almost has a 50/50 split although it leans to the Sativa side. Jilly Bean, as it is called, also boasts of the ability to deliver a sudden head rush while uplifting the mind and melting away stress. Moreover, it provides a body high that is both invigorating and relaxing.
The regular seeds of Jilly Bean from Homegrown Cannabis Co. grow well both indoors and out. Even better, regardless of the location, this variety yields massively as long as the conditions are favorable. It is perfect for discerning home growers who desire to raise plants at its fullest potential - the way only regular seeds could.
Growing Jilly Bean Regular
Although Sativa-dominant, Jilly Bean proudly manifests some Indica growth tendencies, which are beneficial in both commercial and personal cultivation. The bushy, small to medium-sized plant fits even limited spaces with the right trimming and grow method. Meanwhile, it showcases orange hairs with lime green leaves. When exposed to cold temperatures during lights-off hours, these beautiful blades turn to deep burgundy and thus making for a beautiful looking plant.
The compact and stocky Jilly Bean forms thick stems. It produces heavy yields of top buds boasting of easy-to-trim calyx-to-leaf ratio. Moreover, it thrives very well in SOG or ScrOG. Regardless of which training method, it is best to have the diligence to keep the environment ideal. During the 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, keep the temperatures around 21 to 26°C and an RH level between 40 to 50%. At the end of the life cycle, as much as 650 grams of buds per square meter is ready for drying.
On the other hand, a more significant yield of up to 700 grams per plant is possible if planted in locations with a warm, sunny climate. It thrives in places like the Mediterranean, California, Florida, Southern Europe, and Australia. Moreover, apart from cultivating it in a flowerbed, its stealthy size also makes it an excellent choice for guerilla growing, but ensure a spot with plenty of direct access to sunlight. In the northern hemisphere, the plant is ready to share a massive harvest by early to mid-October.
Fragrance and Flavor
Taking out a bud of Jilly Bean out of the bag reveals a strong citrus aroma with a delightful mix of orange, mango, and pineapple. When combusted, it maintains the same scent profile, but with a more pungent earthy fragrance. Then, as the smoke travels into the mouth, it coats the tongue with a sweet taste that enlivens the senses.
Jilly Bean does not only deliver effects associated with Sativa strains. The all-rounder also shares a relaxing Indica body high that makes it suitable for mid-day or afternoon canna-sessions. Just remember that this variety contains ample amounts of calming properties that can cause extreme laziness if consumed in high amounts. Hence, if retaining the freedom of movement is necessary, only enjoy it in moderate doses.
Not the type to hold back its powerful cerebral punch, the benefits of Jilly Bean comes fast and hard. It promptly awakens even the most lethargic head with a surge of euphoria, shaking off any negative thoughts away. Moreover, the immediate happiness it bestows allows the mind to pay no heed on stress-inducing factors and see things with optimism. With the absence of gloomy feelings, there is nothing that could disturb an uplifted spirit.
Just as the mind savors the positivity, the body is also gaining a boost in energy. It makes the limbs feel light and the muscles brim with vitality. At the same time, a good amount of relaxation restrains any tendencies of going on a frenzy. Such a balanced corporeal effect supplies enough vigor to enjoy an active lifestyle or get through a busy workday.
The versatile plant promotes a healthier mental state and an ache-free body as well. All the better, the medicinal benefits it provides manifest quickly, making it an excellent option over its synthetic counterparts.
Emancipation from conditions that torture the mind is one of Jilly Beans forte. It delivers a euphoric punch that overpowers worries and negative external influences, leaving a void that is soon filled with happy thoughts. Without these stressors, mental concerns such as stress, anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, as well as severe mood swings cannot manifest.
Moreover, the body gets its share of relief too. The strain contains analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that immediately silence pain, all the while reducing swelling. Such fusion makes the herb useful in alleviating the likes of migraines, headaches, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and a long list of many others. Apart from that, the energizing effects defeat the heaviness caused by fatigue, allowing movement without the constraints of exhaustion.
While these therapeutic benefits provide immense comfort, employing Jilly Bean even in low to moderate dosages may cause dry mouth or red, bloodshot eyes. Overindulging may also trigger dizziness, intensified anxiety, and paranoia. Hence, to experience the best of what the strain can offer, it is best only to consume modest doses and buildup the high from there.
