Northern Light (NL) is a world-renowned cultivar that has changed the landscape of cannabis horticulture over the last three decades. First bred in Seattle during the late 1970s, it found its way to Holland where, under the expert hands of a master breeder, it spawned 11 new Indica plants. Northern Lights #10, as the name implies, is the tenth phenotype.
A descendant of a pure Afghani landrace and a Thai Sativa, this cultivar is guaranteed to impress with its generous yield of alluringly resinous buds, vigorous growth, fast flowering rate, and resilience. It offers a profoundly sedating experience that can knock out even the most hardened veteran. Such exceptional qualities are a testament to its lineage, which also led to it being chosen as a parent to several other cultivars.
Homegrown Cannabis Co.'s ever-expanding cannabis inventory now includes feminized Northern Lights #10 seeds. These beans promise an almost entirely female turnout, ensuring a fuss-free cultivation process.
Growing Northern Lights #10 from Feminized Seeds
As you may expect, Northern Lights #10 features all the classic traits of an Indica. It sports a compact frame with sparse internodal spacing, thick branches, and insanely dense and resinous colas. It's also pretty impervious to mold, disease-causing pathogens and harsh weather conditions. These traits make it an ideal introductory cultivar for beginners.
Its compact stature makes indoor growing easy. In controlled environments, you'll need to maintain temperatures between about 70 and 80°F and humidity levels around 40 to 50% as well as setting up an efficient ventilation system. Pruning excess foliage is an excellent means of preventing moisture-buildup and mold proliferation.
A hydroponics set-up coupled with the Sea of Green technique will encourage explosive growth. It not only speeds up the vegging process, but also boosts productivity. When cultivated under optimal conditions, expect to harvest 1.8 ounces of trichome-laden buds per square foot after just 6 to 8 weeks of flowering.
Outdoor cultivation is also a viable option. NL #10 loves basking under the sun, and in the right environment each plant can produce up to 17 ounces of fat nuggets by the first week of October.
Fragrance and Flavor
This cultivar entices the senses with a musky, pine-like aroma and notes of hashish, cedarwood, sandalwood and maple. After exhaling, it leaves a spicy aftertaste along with sweet, sour and floral flavors.
Effects
As soon as you light up Northern Lights #10 and take a couple of hits, an immediate burst of cerebral euphoria will wash over you. Quickly, it enhances the mood by getting rid of any mental baggage that's weighing you down. As expected from a predominantly Indica cultivar, it's very relaxing yet potent, and will compel you to lie down and lose yourself in deep introspection. The relaxing vibe helps soothe away stress, fatigue, muscle tension and other discomforts, making it a perfect companion for unwinding at the end of a busy day.
Despite these pleasant psychoactive effects, going low and slow is always for the best. Doing so helps limit the side-effects to cottonmouth and dry eyes, whereas going overboard may trigger adverse reactions such as anxiety or paranoia.
Northern Lights #10 Feminized Seeds
With its illustrious heritage, the bar is set high for Northern Lights #10. Luckily, it's proved itself worthy through its prolific trichome production, alluring flavor and aroma, blissful relaxing buzz and copious yields. Even more importantly, it lived up to the expectations by delivering a sublime experience and potential medicinal benefits.
Although it's not readily available in dispensaries, NL #10 is an excellent option for home cultivation. Feminized seeds can easily be obtained from Homegrown Cannabis Co. Having been carefully selected and rigorously tested, these beans promise fuss-free cultivation and an abundant harvest of top-shelf nugs.
